Oh, and the most famous face of the evening the NDA Robot!

Press Release May 2018

We are eager to get things going having just secured the Provision of Bundle Spacers for the Snorre Expansion Bundle project for Subsea 7.

We had 12 Work Placement students from North Highland College across this week for their induction with our Directors Wullie and Sandra, and our HSEQ Manager Jim Gillespie.

Also dropping in with the Course Leader Liam Sutherland and the students were Marcus Mennie and Nicola Innes from the Developing the Young Workforce initiative to reinforce the Gow’s induction with the launch of their snazzy new Health & Safety booklet for DYW.

The DYW Health and Safety booklets reinforce the message that we in Gows already take that Health & Safety is our foremost consideration in all our contracts, on our facility and at our client’s facilities. It is great to see the DYW booklets compliment our robust policy’s and show the young workforce that Health & Safety is the foremost throughout all industry and should be adopted all day, every day in the workplace

We expect the students to have a safe experience with us and that it contributes to their development. We always have an eye on the future recruitment so impress us guys – we are sure you all will.

This latest contract will consist of the supply, manufacture and delivery of 6616 spacers, making it the company’s largest bundle spacer contract to date. This contract follows on from the successful delivery of bundle spacers for the Apache Callater Field, Premier Oil Catcher and the BP Clare Ridge.

Gow’s New Workshop Facility – Progress Update

It’s been all go here at our head office in Lybster over Xmas and New Year, so we would like to let you know how our new workshop facility is taking shape.

The new facility is 17m wide x 31m long x 9m high and will include a 10 tonne overhead crane with a hook height of 6.7m to allow us to deal with much larger fabrications. The work is on schedule for completion by the end of March 2018 and we are looking forward to our opening day, which is still to be confirmed.

What a way to round off 2017

Firstly, in October we were delighted that Gow’s got awarded Highland Business Award for Best Family Business 2017 followed the next week by a Highly Commended for our work in Developing the Young Workforce.

We thought we had done really well this year, Then the biggest surprise, we were awarded Best Rural Family Business at the Scottish Family Business Awards last week.

Wullie and Sandra had been invited to attend the awards in Glasgow as Gow’s had been nominated.

They were delighted that our company and our loyal, hard-working team at Gow’s Lybster Limited were nationally recognised for the work they do and that the company’s dedication and professionalism are acknowledged.

We are approaching the end of what has been a busy year and indeed a successful business year, however, we would not want to let this national recognition of our company pass without acknowledging the considerable contribution our late colleague Ben Butler made to the company.

We were all deeply saddened by his sudden passing in June this year and he is and will be fondly remembered by us all.

We have kept in regular contact with Ben’s family and we hope they recognise the significant contribution Ben made to our company. The standards and work ethic he set are realised within this award and we are thinking of them all, particularly at this time of year

We close down on Friday the 22nd December to give ourselves a well-earned rest and reopen again on Monday 9th January 2018

We would like to take the opportunity to wish all our Clients, Suppliers and our fantastic Gows team and their families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and look forward to the next adventures in 2018

Stay safe and have a great holiday!

NDA Supply Chain Event

Thankyou to everyone who took time out of their day to visit our stand at the NDA Supply Chain Event in Manchester, we had an extremely busy day and are already looking forward to next years event.

Thompson Mackay Retires

Remember, Remember the 3rd of November for us in Lybster as with a touch of sadness as we say goodbye to our colleague Thompson Mackay who has been a welder with us for 14 years!!!

Thomson has decided to hang up his mask and head for the bright lights of Inverness with his wife Allison.

No doubt he will be gainfully employed minding his grandchildren Reuben and Rhudi for his daughter Sally and son in law Craig

We would like to thank him for his loyalty, friendship and service and wish him all the very best for his retirement and hope he will pop back for the Christmas Party, it really wouldn’t be the same without him!!!

Scottish Family Business Awards 2017

Well, we definitely seem to be on a roll here at Gow’s!

Hot on the heels of winning Highland Business Award for Best Family Business and being Highly Commended for our involvement in Developing The Young Workforce programme we were informed late on Friday that we have been shortlisted as Finalists in two categories for “The Herald Scottish Family Business Awards 2017” in association with Business Gateway in the categories of:

This is great news and a fantastic acknowledgment of our team and the work we do across the region.

Obviously, this being a national award we know there are lots of worthy contenders, but we are just so chuffed to be held in such good company in both these categories and we have to wait excitedly to see if we get an early Christmas Pressie on the 6th December in Glasgow

It’s particularly humbling to have our commitment to the community acknowledged as it gives us great pride to support and be associated with such great groups that do such fantastic work in our County.

Developing the Young Workforce

WOW!! We are on a roll!!

Following hot on the heels of our Highland Business Award for Best Family Business we were really proud to be presented with a North Highland Business Award at the recent Caithness Chamber of Commerce AGM.

We were awarded a Highly Commended for our work with Developing the Young Workforce scheme.

We have always been involved with working with the young and upcoming workforce of the county through apprenticeships, mentoring, mock interviews and even recently career speed dating so we are super chuffed to have this acknowledged.

Wullie has gone to put his lottery ticket on just in case it comes in 3s!! lol

2017 Highland Business Awards

Following on from our recent nominations for the 2017 Highland Business Awards we were delighted to attend the award ceremony in the Drummossie Hotel.

It was great just to be nominated as finalists for the Best Family Business and the Caithness & Sutherland Business of the Year and to just be part of the occasion. Imagine our surprise and delight to receive the winner of the Best Family Business!

It was fantastic that our Gows Lybster Team were recognised for all the hard work and dedication that we all put it on a daily basis to service all our contracts and clients.

It was made particularly special that the original company founders, Donald and Sandra, were in attendance to see Wullie and Sandra (Jnr) pick up the award in our 30th year of business.

It’s been a hectic 30th year with a lot of activity on our various contracts at the moment and to add to that our new workshop and office expansion is underway, so its all go for us just now!

It’s great to be recognised for our efforts as a company and a workforce and we are so grateful to everyone who contributes to making us the type of company we are.

Highland Amateur Cup

Gow’s were the main sponsors for the Highland Amateur cup this year and here is our MD Wullie Robertson handing over the cup to the winners Avoch who played Staxigoe United at the final on Saturday in Brora.

Well done Avoch, a great day was had by all and looking forward to next year’s final.
